The annual farm-city stag banquet and program under the sponsorship of the Marion Chamber of Commerce will be Nov. 5 at Marion City Building.

Ron Oelschlager of Marion, stellar fullback and outstanding student at the University of Kansas, is one of three college football players of the Midwest to be nominated as an NCAA candidate for scholar-athlete awards presented annually by the National Football Foundation and Hall of Fame.

The 1964 homecoming queen will be crowned during halftime of Friday’s football game with Centre. Candidates for the honor are Becky Berry, Connie Jost, and Neva Kelsey. Mary Konarik, 1963 homecoming queen, will take part in the ceremony.

About 50 infants, children, and their mothers gathered Oct. 17 at the city building to enjoy an annual baby alumni party sponsored by St. Luke Hospital. The door prize was won by Gary Wayne Ehrlich.

Prize for the youngest boy went to Michael Layne Jantz, born Aug. 30, 1964. The youngest girl was Kristine Dawn Kelsey, born June 21, 1964.

Kevin Lamoine Kelsey, who lives in Newton, received a prize for having come the farthest.
