Peabody-Burns will field five track and field athletes this season — four freshmen and one returner from last year.
“With five on the team, I am excited to be able to work more one on one with each athlete,” coach Austin Weaver said.
Sophmore Xander Stanaway is the Warriors’ returner and will be leading distance runners.
Freshman Avery Tyler, who has distance experience, will join Stanaway.
“Freshmen Gracie Glenn and Journey Needham have been in the track program for the last three years and are excited to start competing again this year,” Weaver said.
Freshman Toni Kitchen is new to the track and field and is planning to compete in throwing.
The Warriors open their season Tuesday at Goessel.
“We have been conditioning the last two weeks and plan to hit the ground running after spring break in preparation for our first meet,” Weaver said.
Other sports
Peabody-Burns also competes as part of Hillsboro’s team in baseball and softball and as part of Marion’s team in swimming.
