Directors of Marion County Hospital District No. 1 received good news Tuesday afternoon. The district will receive a quarter of a million dollars from the estates of Anna and Nellie Ryan, late of Florence.

More than 20 Pride awards will be presented Thursday at a banquet at Eastmoor United Methodist Church. The awards have been entitled “did-something” awards. Other accomplishments will be reported and recognized. The banquet will be open to the public.

Mr. and Mrs. James M. Loney will be guests of honor Sept. 12 in celebration of their 30th wedding anniversary. The couple’s six children will sponsor an open house at the Loney home.

Pictured in this issue is Bob Hoover, holding up four golf balls representing each of his four holes-in-one on the Marion County Club course. Also in the pictures are Al Bernhardt, Bob Brooks, and Dutch Hauser, who witnessed Bob’s fourth ace Saturday on No. 3 hole.

Ed Stenzel, manager of the Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service office in Marion, is featured in this week’s Personality Profile.

Judges of the Florence Labor Day parade were County Attorney Steve Johnson, Congressman Garner Shriver, and Attorney General Curt Schneider.
