Nearly an inch of rain, called a two-million dollar rain, fell in the immediate Peabody area Sunday and Monday to break a month-long dry spell.

Mr. and Mrs. Larry Cooper of Manhattan are the parents of a daughter, born April 1. She has been given the name Toni Rae.
