May 26 should prove to be a big day in Marion. Marion Chamber of Commerce is promoting a tiddlywinks tournament, the first in what is hoped to be an annual event.

The Personality Profile for this week features Cyrus H. Goertz, whose family background provided the basis for his lifetime.

Marion High School Warriors swept field events and turned in solid performances on the track Friday at Council Grove to capture the Cottonwood Valley League track championship with 164½ points.

Two Marion County students have received scholarships supervised by Hospital Auxiliary of Marion County Hospital District No. 1. They are 1977 Centre graduate Alan Bina, sophomore in pre-pharmacy at Emporia State University, and 1977 Marion High School graduate Sue Marie Fruechting, junior at Wichita State University, where she has been accepted into the physician assistant program.

Lucille Britain, city clerk since 1963, is the subject of a Mike Heckman article dealing with her many designated and frequently unscheduled duties as Marion city clerk.
