Marion County jail was the topic of considerable discussion Monday morning at a meeting of county commissioners M.P. Thompson Jr., Ed Broz, and Elmer Uphoff. A report by Harry L. Baxter, architect for correctional units, listed areas in which the jail was deficient.

Teresa Costello, a Kansas State University student from Marion, serves the 19,000-member student body and the Manhattan community as a disc jockey on the university’s KSDB-FM. Costello, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edward J. Costello of Marion, can be heard from 6 to 9 a.m. Thursdays.

Ern Hett is having fun at a hobby that has put him into a good business that reaches out to far corners of the country. Hett, subject of this week’s Personality Profile, is a welder who does brazing and rustic woodwork at the Copper Shed, a few steps from the Hett home east of Aulne.

Fifteen Marion High School students attended the Model United Nations meeting recently at Emporia State University. They included Bev Bezdek, Kay Blackman, Sandy Bridges, David Bryant, Barbara Costello, Paula Deines, Carol Ehrlich, Gary Ewert, Molly Ferrell, Jeff Griffith, Lori Harris, Cindy Moody, Karen Stevens, Paula Vinduska, and Mary Kay Waner.
