Rachel Keazer, winner of the Marion County Record’s annual holiday season subscription contest, received her $100 gift certificate as first prize and spent it at Webster Auto Service for repair work on her car. Second prize, $50, went to Mrs. Roy Hiebert and third prize, $25, to Herb Wullschleger.
Sharon Kroupa, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edmund Kroupa of Marion, has accepted a position as staff accountant with the public accounting firm Peat, Marwick, Mitchell and Co. at Wichita.
Marion County Register of Deeds office recorded its busiest day ever on Dec. 18 when 41,000 acres of land were leased from Scully Estates to Mark A. Williams of Wichita. Dorothy Lawrence, register of deeds, said the transaction helped produce the “largest day ever, by far,” for her office.
Three hen turkeys were reported stolen Thursday night from a chicken coop at the Leonard Ellis residence at the northeast edge of Florence. The poultry heist was the second in two weeks from the Ellis home. Two weeks ago, Ellis said, someone stole two geese from the chicken house.
