Marion officials were told Monday that Internet access for people on the 382 telephone exchange was about a month away.

Appointments made for the coming year included Joan Bowers as city clerk; Linda Holub, court clerk; Dan Baldwin, city attorney; Merle Bruner, fire chief; Don Keazer, police chief; and Bryson Mills, municipal judge.

The 100th annual alumni banquet of Florence High School will be May 25. Theme of the event will be “Centurion Celebration.”

Santa Fe Trail District of Boy Scouts of America had its spring jamboree this weekend at Marion County Park and Lake. The district includes Harvey, McPherson, Chase, and Marion counties. Seventeen troops, including 217 scouts plus leaders, were scattered over the south side of the lake in tents.
