Jost Construction crews have encased the façade of the growing Marion Pharmacy with a plastic barrier as they continue renovation and expansion of the store in downtown Marion. The front is being architecturally redesigned to present an attractive appearance. Owner Marlin Buchholz said the store would remain open during construction.

The final drawing in this year’s Christmas season retail sales promotion sponsored by the Marion Chamber of Commerce will be Sunday. Marlene Schwind of Hillsboro won a $50 gift certificate Dec. 6. Steffanie Smith of Marion won a $75 certificate this past Sunday.

Marion High School winter sports cheerleaders are Angela Markley, Amanda May, Amy Christensen, Shannon Tajchman, and Renee Goodin.

Marion Kiwanis Club members Bud Hannaford, Greg Bowers, and Gerry Harris are pictured as they wash dishes during Saturday’s annual pancake feed. Kiwanians worked from 6 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. preparing hundreds of pancakes and sausage links. More than $500 was raised for Kiwanis programs.

Kelly Lord, a senior at Marion High School, has been selected as student of the month by the faculty. Her parents are Linda and Gerry Harris of Marion.
