Marion Historical Museum will receive basic remodeling, including improvement of the entryway and other interior areas. Lorraine Hadsell and Phyllis Melton of the museum board met Monday with Marion City Commission to present figures on the project.

Torey Hett, 5-year-old son of David and Jamie Hett of Marion, has been designated 1992 poster child for the state’s Service for Children with Special Health Care Needs.

A brief ceremony held Thursday at Marion Elementary School opened a new addition to the school. Those attending included 30 staff members and more than 300 enrolled students.

Marion High School Warriors will be hosts for an ice cream social Friday at Marion Stadium. A soap scrimmage, with admission being a bar of soap, will follow.

Leadership Marion County class members graduated Monday at Kingfisher’s Inn. Graduates include Janet Marler, Teresa Higgins, and Bill Harmon, Marion; Dale Regier, Dorothy Deckert, John Dalke and JoAnn Knak, Hillsboro; Brent Miles, Peabody; Frances Mueller, Tampa; and Bret O’Dell, Florence.

Salina rock band Blades performed before an enthusiastic audience of 300 or more Saturday on the outdoor stage alongside Central Park in downtown Marion.
