USA Today has identified Marion Reservoir as one of the popular clothing-optional swimming areas in the United States. However, rangers who patrol the area say the report is total fiction. They are upset that a family-oriented reservoir has been identified as a nude pleasure site. “I hope this dies an early death, ranger Terry Holt said.

Rather than driving an hour away to take plastic to be recycled, residents simply can take it to WB Recycling at its S. 3rd St. location in Marion or at any of several drop-off sites throughout the county.

Lisa Buchholz, 11-year-old daughter of Marlin and Debbie Buchholz of Marion, was selected as second runner-up in the photogenic category of the Miss Kansas America pre-teen pageant July 4 and 5 in Overland Park.

Preserve the Heartland local officials are pleased with the federal government’s announcement that planned land acquisition for Fort Riley will not take place. The organization was formed in 1989 when the military proposed possible expansion for Fort Riley that included parts of Marion County.
