Marlin and Nancy Miller and their children Jared and Kristi Jo of Wichita, while walking along the Cottonwood River several weeks ago, discovered a prehistoric buffalo skull estimated to be 9,000 years old. The skull was discovered on land of Miller’s father-in-law, John Olsen, who lives west of Marion.

Eloise Mueller will return as Marion Chamber of Commerce president, she told about 50 chamber members Friday. Other officers are Jim Chamberland, vice president; Jackie Crofoot, secretary; and Don Bredemeier, treasurer.

Births this week at St. Luke Hospital included a son, Gabriel Roger, born Dec. 18 to Eric and Cindy Moore of Marion and a daughter, Caitlin Marie, born to Arlo and Marilee Koehn of Burns on Dec. 19.

Evelyn Anderson, bookkeeper and drive-through teller at Marion National Bank, will retire this month after 35 years. She plans to enjoy retirement, but says she will miss daily contact with customers and co-workers.

Julie Sellers, senior at Marion High School, has been chosen as student of the month for December by the high school faculty. She is the daughter of Robert and Leah Sellers of rural Florence.
