Honoring the 100th anniversary of Marion County Courthouse, Marion Kiwanis Club announced this year’s theme for Old Settlers Day as “Marion County Courthouse: A Century of Progress.”

Marion High School boys Isaac Guetersloh, Kyle Hett, and Riley Ross have been selected to attend Boys State June 11 to 17 at Kansas State University, Manhattan.

An 80-member orchestra and a 100-member chorus performed Saturday at Symphony in the Flint Hills, two miles north of US-50 on K-177 at the Tall Grass Prairie Natural Preserve. The event attracted more than 6,500 people.

Marion High School cheerleaders attended a National Cheerleading Association camp this past week at Emporia State University. The group consisted of Lana Carroll, Lucy Collett, Tedra Eis, Jade Hess, Valaree Hett, Kayala Jackson, Cassie Legg, Erin Richmond, Alyssa Seacat, Jandee Sharp, and Kari Tajchman.

Area farmers began harvesting wheat during the past week, a week to 10 days ahead of the average start.
