A burn ban implemented Monday by Marion County commissioners will allow burning of pastures this week, but all other burning will be forbidden.

A drunken driving accident was simulated Thursday at Marion High School. Student participants were Michael Brookens, Derek Vetter, and Alysha O’Dell. Also participating were firefighters Stacey Collett and Mike Regnier, ambulance volunteer Gene Winkler, and state trooper Mike Ottensmeier.

Tish and Joe Vinduska have opened the Chipped Cup Café on the west side of US-56/77 in Lincolnville. It will be open 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. except Sundays.

Senior Jeremy Vonderkamp is Marion High School’s athlete of the week. He set a school record in the 300-meter hurdles April 13 at Smoky Valley. He also won the 110-meter hurdles.

A feature article recalls the experiences of Marion resident Gunnie Severs as a glamorous New York fashion model. Severs moved to Marion six years ago to be closer to her family, including Sandy Loveless of rural Marion.
