A novel and pretty affair was a shower of houseplants given by Mrs. Henry King last Thursday afternoon in honor of Ruth King Brooker, one of Marion’s recent brides.

W.D. Rudd, a well-known Marion boy and a good plumber, who for the past five years has been in the employ of Pollitt and Kleinhammer, opened an establishment for himself Monday in a room between Scott’s Hardware and Pollitt and Kleinhammer’s.

He will do general plumbing, spouting, and repairs and solicits your trade.

Last Thursday, the bank at Lincolnville was blown open and about $1,800 in cash stolen. Some valuable papers also were in the bank, but these were not taken. The burglars pried open a side door and worked their way through the side of the vault and blew open the door to the strong box with nitroglycerine.

A telephone office is being built just north of the Aulne Mercantile store and will be ready for occupancy in a short time.

Friday night will be ladies night at the rink. This has proven a popular diversion and will ensure a pleasant evening. A band will furnish music.
