The Grand was entered by burglars Monday night, and at least $200 worth of stuff stolen. The incident gives force again to the contention that the town should have a watchman on duty all night.

The big plant of Seymour Packing soon will be ready for business. Much of the machinery already has been installed. The building certainly “looms up” in fine shape.

We understand that the company is planning to erect another building to the north of the present one.

The company will doubtlessly spend $50,000 on the plant. It is a big thing for the town and for the whole surrounding country.

After long consideration, it has been decided to place before the voters of the district a proposition to erect a new school building. The need has been steadily growing in recent years. It now has become pressing.

We understand that some property owners on W. Main St. have started a movement for the paving of Main west to the Jex bridge. This will be particularly desirable on account of big traffic that is bound to take place at the Seymour plant.

The Rock Island is doing a fine piece of work in protecting its right of way north of the Cottonwood bridge, where a serious wash-out occurred this spring.

The railroad is spending a lot of money but will have a permanent piece of work when it is completed.
