Marion officials were notified this week that, after previous applications were denied, Kansas Department of Transportation has approved a $715,904 grant to upgrade sidewalks, lighting, and parking between 1st and 5th Sts. downtown.
Jeremy and Tammy Ensey have reached an agreement to purchase the Elgin Hotel from Jim and Nancy Cloutier. The hotel has a large unfinished area on the first floor where the Enseys hope to attract a high-end dining establishment or create space for weddings, events, and meetings.
Banking was a natural career choice for Ryan Edmundson, new vice president at Marion National Bank. Early interest in his mother’s work as a high school business instructor led to his decision to go into banking. He has been manager of three branches of Farmers Bank and Trust in Brewster.
As many as 18 teams will tee off May 7 at Marion Country Club to raise money for Marion High School graduates at an event organized by 1969 MHS graduate Gary Melcher to honor the memory of Leroy Dreier, who coached here in the 1960s and early 1970s.
