Roger Schroeder and Todd Carpenter are pictured as they fill a grill basket with 50 steaks Monday for the annual Marion Chamber of Commerce Farm/City Banquet at Marion City Building. Approximately 20 volunteers cooked and served steak dinners to those willing to venture out on a cold, damp evening.

Marion High School Key Club members Wiley Lundy and Grif Case are pictured as they rake leaves in the backyard of Bula Good’s home at 310 Locust. Raking yards has become an annual service event for Key Club, which sent out three teams of rakers to tackle eight yards in northeast Marion.

Outstanding employee of the fourth quarter at St. Luke Hospital & Living Center and Marion County Home Care is Robyn Kukuk, activities director at the living center. Robyn has worked at St. Luke since March of 2007. She is a CNA Social Service Designee and provides a variety of services for the residents.

Marion Elementary School students receiving recognition for outstanding character at a school assembly Oct. 26 were Emma Box, Aubrey Craig, Karlee Fetrow, Natalie Hoffner, Campbell Winter, Johnny Zieammermann, Ethan Darnall, Jayden Hallowell, Grace Overton, Riley Terry, and Jack Schneider.

Tabor College’s long-standing Christmas tradition of performing “Messiah” — the 18th Century work by George Frederick Handel — will continue Sunday with performances by the Tabor College Concert Choir, Alumni Chorus, and Tabor’s Community Orchestra. The production will be 7 p.m. at Hillsboro Mennonite Brethren Church.

Thirty-seven projects including Main Street in Marion have qualified for the Kansas Department of Transportation’s 2013 KLINK resurfacing program. Main Street in Marion has qualified for the project from Locust Street to Walnut Street.
