The annual New Year’s Eve ball drop and fireworks will begin at 11:45 p.m. Sunday at Marion. The drop will be at the Cooperative Grain and Supply elevator, one block south of the courthouse.

Junior Austin Hager is pictured troweling concrete as the Marion High School construction class recently began its first project. The hands-on class, taught by Lucas King, is busy pouring and smoothing freshly poured concrete at Marion Stadium for a storage building they will construct there in the coming weeks.

There was a regular blizzard at St. Luke Living Center Thursday afternoon when Kay Navrat showed her large collection of snow globes to residents. It is estimated she brought 50 or more globes for the seasonal “show and tell.”

Area students graduating from the fall semester at Kansas State University include Stacia Williams and Rebekah Taylor of Florence and Levi Arnhold of Marion. Carmen Mille of Lincolnville and Marlene Goentzel of Marion received degrees from Emporia State University.
