Florence is to have several pieces of armament confiscated by the Allied forces during the World War which are due to arrive here this week. These come as a result of the local Legion post's efforts to secure them as trophies of the great war. A German 77mm field gun is slated also to be given to the city. Just when it will arrive is not definite. The pieces coming this week are two German rifles, two bayonets, one German machine gun, a German helmet, and sabre. These will be placed on display upon their arrival, and will be preserved by the city or the Legion post.

Will Peck had one of the thrills that the golf book doesn't contain when his Ford roadster went up in smoke last Tuesday afternoon while in company with Chet Bibler and George Kiddoo, he was playing the local course. The men had started to town and just as they arrived at the main road, decided that the game was fascinating enough to return and play another round. The car was parked near the club house and the game was on. When the threesome reached no. 4 green, one of the men noticed the car in flames, and the three ran to the scene, a distance of about 500 yards. Mr. Peck succeeded in getting the battery out of the car, but otherwise all but the chassis was burned. The fire spread in the dry grass to the gun club traps nearby, and a considerable amount of grass was burned over the field before it was extinguished.
