Plans for the beautification and clean-up of Florence were announced Monday night at the regular chamber of commerce meeting. The clean-up committee headed by Dr. John C. Slifer had met earlier in the month and made plans which were presented at the meeting by Mrs. Frank Hauke, president, in the absence of Dr. Slifer who was called away by an emergency. Plans call for a complete renovation of Florence to erase the scars left by last summer's flood and also to eradicate long-standing eyesores in the town. The committee divided Florence into several sections and appointed chairmen for each section to expedite the beautification. The chamber of commerce voted to provide $150 for prize money to be given to those who improve their homes the most by fall and also voted to award a ribbon for the business house most improved.
