Florence's first Pancake Day will be observed this Saturday with pancakes being served all day in the O'Brien Building between the Kansas Power and Light Co. and Deyo barber shop. This event, which is sponsored by the Florence Chamber of Commerce, has created considerable interest and a large crowd is expected. As an added feature, Cecil Rotz has challenged anyone who wishes to compete to a pancake eating contest starting at 10 a.m.

This week the seniors began practicing their play, a three-act comedy which will be given later in March. Adeline Zerby is directing the play, and the cast is as follows: Constance Clark, the girl, Margie Regler; Mrs. Sarah Clark, her mother, Estelle McCarty; Uriah Whippledunk, owner of Hoodoo Farm, Bob McMillen; Becky Stogsdill, with movie ambitions, Lois Day; Tom Roger, a stranger, Jim Brandt; Abner Bucklem, town Councilman, Bill Robinson; Obadiah Stogsdill, town Councilman, Bill Seibel; Silas Recrest, deaf mute, Jack Malek; Elenezer Sutorstone, town Councilman, Harold Triggs; Luke Alspond, a farmer, Warren Nightengale, Mathew Haynes Rogers, a financier, Ronald Ludwig; Sam Marting, an ex-soldier, Ronald White; Everette Ballew, a suitor, Fred Bichet; Lois Day, a junior, was selected to play one part, as another girl was needed to complete the cast.
