Florence City has hired a new marshal this past week, Joseph (Joe) Caulk, 27, of Herington, will be giving the position a try. His first day of work was Saturday, March 27.

Covered wagons will roll across Kansas next month as they did in the state's earliest days. They will travel the Santa Fe trail from west to east, en route to Valley Forge and Philadelphia, to celebrate America's Bicentennial. The wagons will be traveling from Tampa to Herington on Friday April 23 and on to Council Grove Saturday with a layover on Sunday.

Track team squads from the Florence area for the 1976 track season include Chuck Walker, Dan Ludwig, Jay Wealand, Maria Gayle, Wava Ireland, Teri Robinson, and Bev Bezdek. Rhonda Williams is the manager of the girls team.
