The Florence Ambulance Service has received the anti-shock trousers the city purchased for them recently. A training class for the Florence personnel was held, with initial instruction given by Larry Hatfield and Betty Riber of the K.U. Medical Center. Also receiving training were Dr. Slifer of Florence, Dr. Ivan Carpenter, Dr. Hill and Dr. Fransen of Newton. Anti-shock trousers were developed by the Air Force and now have been adapted for use in ambulances for the treatment and prevention of shock in trauma injuries. They have been in use for the past two years and have proven to be highly successful. The ambulance crew here is very pleased to be one of the first in this part of the state to have this new equipment.
