Under Sheriff Guy Graham came down from Marion last Friday and trapped A. Hussong, who kept the joint on the west side of Main Street, near the railroad track. Guy took two friends into the joint, called for drinks, got them, paid for them, and then arrested Hussong. He pleaded guilty and was fined $100 and costs and sentenced to thirty days in jail. He paid the fine and is now serving his time. The goods in the building were sent to Strong City, whence they came. The distressing feature of this calamity is the fact that it will retard improvement around that joint. Hussong had begun constructing a bull pen around his booze shop. This would have enabled the irrigationist with too big a jag to tote to tumble into the back yard and sleep it off, unobserved by the vulgar eye of the curious passerby.
The members of the graduating class of the Florence High School have decided to give a cake walk in the opera house tonight. The proceeds will go toward defraying the expenses of commencement exercises. The graduates have the laudible ambition to pay their own expenses of graduating, and they should be encouraged in it. Attend the cake walk.
