Secretary Alger creates the Department of the Gulf — General Order Issued — The west will soon be without troops except where Indian uprising is likely.
Do bootleggers ever wash? One of the Florence fellows looks like he has at least a year's accumulation of grime hanging to him. The others do not appear much better. It is our opinion that a bootlegger never washes, and we believe it firmly enough to give any moveable booze vendor of Florence five dollars if he will prove that he bathes the facial portion of his mug once a week on an average.
T.P. Alexander, receiver for the Horner Block, the city building, and other property in this city, made settlement with the court this week. The properties now belong to the Bowman's of Topeka.
