Wonsevu News: Writer extends sympathy

A five-year-old girl had gone fishing with her grandfather. After an hour or so, her grandfather asked, "Are you having any luck?" She replied indignantly, "No, I don't think my worm is really trying."

We extend our sympathy to the family of Marie Soyez Standiferd. She was a nice lady and will be missed by all who knew her.

We also extend sympathy to the family of Cleo Osgood. We know she will be missed by her friends and others who knew her.

Amy Mitchell went to the ball game in Cottonwood Falls Friday evening and played in the band. Amy attended 4-H Sunday at the community church in Cedar Point. She went on a hayrack ride Sunday evening.

Hazel Clothier met her daughter, Teresa Hill, of Marion, for dinner Friday at a Florence restaurant.

Everett and Janet Cress had a birthday party for Alan Wednesday. Those who attended were Brandon, Carri, Hunter, and Montana of Cedar; Mike Kelly of Broken Arrow, Okla., Lawrence Osgood and Ganet. Alan left Thursday to go home to Darby, Mont.

Joe Rowland of Cedar Point visited a couple of days.

Dinner guests of Bill and Margie Williams on Sunday was grandson Carl Williams of Wamego. Bill and Margie's son, Gary Williams, called from Waco, Texas. He is having a new experience of adjusting to cotton. He told Bill the cotton "sure is white." That was after going through a cotton gin.

Denise Lang reported Jessica and Dustin Maddox returned today from their honeymoon. They had a good time. Denise spent the week at the jail academy at Salina. She's happy to say she got her certification. We extend our congratulations to her. Denise and Jaimie went to a movie Sunday afternoon in Emporia.

Frank Rinaldi and children of New York, friends of John and family, attended the wedding of Jessica and Dustin. The Rinaldis returned home Tuesday.

Doni Rogers went to the Cooper horse sale at Emporia last week. Doni went to Frank Higgs horse sale Sunday in El Dorado. Doni attended a gathering at James Obendean's for the Clarks who live where Arlo used to.
