Wilma Gayle

Wilma L. Gayle, 93, Florence, died Oct. 24, 2002, at Marion.

Born June 12, 1909, at Weleetka, Okla., she was the daughter of the late Jewel and Lela (Damron) Lindsay.

She was married to Bartlett Gayle in 1928 at Tulsa, Okla.

After growing up in rural Oklahoma, she and her late husband spent nearly three years with the oil industry in Dutch East Indies.

Later they were farmers in Oklahoma. She eventually worked as an IBM key punch operator at Cessna Aircraft, spending time in New York but had lived at Florence for the past 40 years.

Survivors include her son, Robert Gayle of Florence; daughter, Sister Carol Sue Gayle of Tulsa, Okla.; sister, Jean Ball of Oklahoma; six grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Her parents, husband, two brothers, and two sisters preceded her in death.

Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday at Holy Family Catholic Church in Florence with Father Steve Gronert officiating.

Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery. A memorial fund has been established with the Florence Ambulance Department.
