Willow Stewart wins PBES spelling bee
Twenty students participated Friday in the Peabody-Burns Elementary School spelling bee.
Sixth grader Willow Stewart placed first. Justus Hilliard was second, followed by Caroline Beal in third. Steward and Hilliard will compete Feb. 6 at the county spelling bee. Beal will serve as an alternate.
In order to qualify for the spelling bee, students had to earn a top score on a written test given to all students in the fourth, fifth, and sixth grade classes.
Fourth grade participants were Brandon Entz, Katy Benson, and Bobby Crane.
Fifth grade competitors included Beal, Cheyenn West, Kiefer Larsen, Christa Elliot, Tylor Baker, Nicholas Preheim, Tracy Henry, Rylie McDowell, Kaden Gibson, Colton Terronez, Hilliard, Alanis Bishop, and Jessica Hartley.
Sixth graders were Jordan Gibson, Stewart, Cierra Foth, and Gunner Winter.
