Williams Service featured at chamber meeting
Williams Service, Inc. was the featured business Nov. 6 during the "Get to Know Your Member" segment of the Florence Chamber of Commerce meeting.
Williams Service, Inc. is owned by Rod and Twilah Williams. The international truck business began on U.S.-77 in 1962. In August 1970 they built a new building where the company is now located. The company has 22 employees. This year, the company is observing 41 years in business.
Rod and Twilah Williams have two children, Stan and Stephanie. Stan and his wife Jami have three children. They live in Marion. He is a truck salesman for the business. Stephanie makes her home in Wichita where she is employed as a certified public accountant.
Those attending the noon luncheon included Sue Klassen, Mary Jane Grimmett, Bill Edmunds, Ed Robinson, Joel and Alice Hayes, Bev Wiebe, John and Joanna Lehman, Ronald and Kathleen Ludwig, Ben Munson, Vickie Turner, Cindy Holt, Dan Ludwig, Twilah and Rod Williams, Sarah Cope, and Pastor Mark and Nancy Moore.
Estelle McCarty, representing the Florentines, presented a history of the senior center and rules and regulations for the building.
Sue Klassen announced the Nov. 15 Pride meeting.
Santa Claus will visit children from 8 to 11 a.m. Dec. 6 at the American Legion. The visit will be coordinated by Sarah Cope and Darla Gore. Children will be given the opportunity to eat a breakfast of scrambled eggs, bacon and juice for $2 and visit with Santa.
Mary Jane Grimmett will be in charge of the community tree lighting ceremony beginning at 7 p.m. Dec. 6 in Veteran's Park. Everyone is encouraged to bring an ornament to place on the tree. Special music is planned and the traditional singing of Christmas carols will be followed by refreshments at the legion building.
Pastor Mark and Nancy Moore will be the featured members during the Dec. 4 meeting. At that time, 2004 chamber officers will be chosen.
