Will work for fuel
There's the saying that "Love makes the world go 'round." As a hopeless romantic, I'd say it's true but I'm beginning to believe that "Fuel makes the world go 'round."
Gas prices are making a big dent in most consumers' pocket books because it's not just sucking us dry at the gas pumps but costing us everywhere else.
In the past few weeks, just about all consumable goods and clothing have increased in price. Twenty cents here, $3 there. It all adds up.
Just think that if a person makes $10 per hour, it could take nearly a full day to pay for a tank full of gas! Then there's housing, groceries, clothing, and other necessities that have to be purchased.
Short of getting a second job, most of us are trying to find ways to cut back.
What's surprising to me, is there doesn't seem to be any shorter lines at the gas stations and it sure doesn't seem that consumers are driving less.
Get on Main Street of any town when the local high school is dismissed. Teens haven't slowed down their driving time — at all.
For some, monthly fuel costs are exceeding their monthly rent or mortgage payments, especially those who commute. Now that's just ridiculous.
So, what is it going to take for fuel prices to go down?
Lenient regulations so more oil can be produced in the U.S.? Alternative fuel?
Whatever it is we'd better do something pretty fast before we all end up walking and homeless.
