Wichita car club will be in Peabody Saturday
A group of old car enthusiasts from Wichita will drive Saturday to Peabody and spend the day. The "Wichita As" (a group that restores model As) will arrive mid-morning and be in town for lunch, shopping, and touring.
Peggy Wattson of Cameo Rose Antiques has been working with members to find things for them to do during their visit.
They will first tour the Methvin Alpaca Farm north of town and then arrive in downtown Peabody for lunch and shopping in local businesses.
The restored cars will be parked downtown at that time.
"The people I talked to said they love to have people come look at their cars," said Wattson. "They enjoy talking about them and explaining the restoration. So they are hoping people will come out and look them over."
Peabody Historical Society will have the museum complex open at 3 p.m. for the group to tour. They will head back to Wichita after they see the museum exhibits.
"If the weather is bad, it's my understanding they won't be here," said Wattson. "They don't like to take their cars out when it's stormy.
"But if the sun is shining everyone should come downtown, look over the cars, visit with the owners, and welcome them to Peabody."
Wattson said about 20 members of the group will make the trip.
