Wedding held in university chapel

LaVonne accompanied Blaine and Carol Ammeter of Ellinwood to the wedding of Bryan Hess and Rhiannon Sykes in Pittsburg last weekend. They spent the night at the Super 8 and Sunday they attended the wedding at a beautiful little chapel on the Pittsburg State University campus. After the ceremony they went to Girard to the reception. Other family members attending were Jack Metz and Carolyn Holm, Shirley Hess, and Susan Bachus and Joe of Wichita, Kathryn and Bob Ireland of Newton, Woody Hess of El Dorado, and Chris and Kerri Melson of Claude, Texas. Bryan is a great-nephew of LaVonne and Carolyn and Jack and a grandson of Kathryn and Bob Ireland. Jack Metz, Carolyn Holm, LaVonne, and Kathryn Ireland stayed Sunday night in Pittsburg. They had supper at Chicken Mary's and came home Monday afternoon.
Many friends, relatives, and the immediate family gathered at Peabody last Sunday to help Maude Gaines celebrate her 90th birthday. Everyone reported lots of good food and fellowship.
Dorene Kirkpatrick and LaVonne papered Tuesday and Wednesday mornings.
Maude Gaines visited Sherry and Marvin Nightengale Tuesday afternoon.
Ladies Aid met at LaVonne's Wednesday afternoon. Those quilting were Maude Gaines, Sherry Nightengale, and Dorene Kirkpatrick. Ada and Carol Gilbert of Newton were guests.
Maude Gaines and LaVonne visited Marge Gray Wednesday evening. Maude and LaVonne were in Marion on business Thursday and did some shopping. Thursday was LaVonne's birthday. Wow, all the pretty cards and the telephone calls made for a great day.
Maude, LaVonne, Sherry Nightengale, and Dorene Kirkpatrick cleaned the Summit church Friday morning. Maude visited Ike and Marie Clark Friday afternoon.
Don Gillet visited LaVonne on Friday. Later in the afternoon, Sally and Myron Ammeter of Grand Island, Neb., arrived to spend the night and Saturday. Blaine Ammeter of Ellinwood arrived at the Ammeter farm later that evening. Stan Ammeter was a supper guest.
Saturday dinner guests of LaVonne were Myron and Sally Ammeter, Blaine Ammeter, and Stan Ammeter. The boys spent the day building corral fence. They all returned to their homes late Saturday evening except Sally and Myron who spent the night and Sunday with Opal Craney.
Little Zachery Gilbert, great-grandson of the Rev. Carol and Adah Gilbert was baptized Sunday morning at the Summit church by Rev. Gilbert. Wow! There hasn't been a baptism at Summit church for years. It was quite an occasion! Attending were Zachery's parents, Tim and Kim Gilbert and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Jim Gilbert and daughter, Chad Gilbert, and the rest of the Summit church congregation.
Maude Gaines and LaVonne Ammeter ate lunch at the Chuckwagon in Florence Sunday and visited Elsie Tittle in the afternoon.
LaVonne had a call from Eunice Lemon, a cousin from Oregon, to talk about the basketball game between the Kansas Jayhawks and the Oregon Ducks. Of course you know that KU won!
