Weather good, attendance impressive at Florence Labor Day

More than 1,400, $4 buttons were sold this past weekend during the Florence Labor Day Celebration, marking one of the more successful events in recent memory.

Attendance was up for the Saturday night street dance and Sunday evening gospel and country music concert which featured the Prairie Wranglers.

The celebration began Saturday with a kids' ranch rodeo and mutton bustin'.

Country rock band Justus provided the music for the annual street dance on Main Street.

Sunday's events included a community church service, potluck, bike decorating workshop, and hog roast.

A sanctioned barbecue cook-off was held Sunday and Monday. The quartet, Prairie Wranglers, formerly known as Prairie Rose Wranglers, entertained nearly 1,000 visitors Sunday evening. An ice cream social followed the concert.

The traditional Labor Day parade was Monday morning, followed by Wichita Caldeonian Pipes and Drums, kid's games, and FFA Barnyard Olympics.
