Warriors win league, tournament

Eight basketball players from Peabody-Burns High School participated in the McPherson Summer Basketball League. The team was composed of four seniors Adam Carroll, Caleb Good, Adam Jones, and Michael Unruh; two juniors Brandon Crabtree and Tyler Litton, and two sophomores Jason Carroll and Isaac Good.

During league play, the team finished in first place with a record of six wins and two losses.

They entered the final night of tournament play as the number one seed and had to play only two games.

First round action found them playing Elyria. At the end of the first half, the Warriors were up by only one point with the score at 29 to 28. The second half was not good for the Warriors as they were down by 10 points but finally rallied to win the game, 64-59. Caleb Good contributed 31 points, Adam Jones, 11; Brandon Crabtree, 10; Isaac Good, 8; and Adam Carroll, 4.

The championship game matched the Warriors against the team from Burrton. The Warriors were up by 10 at the half and the score stood at 29-19. The game became close during the second half, however the Warriors held on for a close win, 48-47. Adam Carroll led the scoring with 12 points; Adam Jones, 11; Isaac Good, 8; Caleb Good, 7; Tyler Litton, 5; Jason Carroll, 3; and Brandon Crabtree, 2.

The team was coached by Chuck Good and John Carroll.
