Warriors win against Goessel, Inman

Peabody-Burns Warriors picked up two wins this past week after the boys' squad defeated Inman, 69-60, at home and picked up a road win, 49-36, against Goessel.

The PBHS boys went up 8-0 on the Teutons early in the Inman/PBHS contest. Nathan Hittle put the first points on the board with a trey. The Warriors continued to dominate the quarter with tough defensive pressure and good shooting and ended the quarter up 23-16.

Warrior offense slowed in the second, putting in 12 for the period, while the defense held the Teutons to 10. By the half, the gap was cut to nine, 35-26. Good paced the second with eight. Bengtsson and Jason Carroll added two each.

Inman had a basket early in the third to cut the Warrior lead to seven, but the PBHS offense held the Teutons and led by 10 at the end of three, 51-41. Good had six points during the quarter. Bengttson put in four. Hittle, Benson, and Derrick Simmonds each added two.

In the fourth quarter, Warrior offense was helped with scoring from the free throw line with Simmonds and Good putting in three each and Hittle adding two. Hittle also added three baskets to lead the fourth with eight. Carroll and Benson rounded out the evening with two each.

The Warriors are now 7-1 for the season. They will compete this week in the Burrton tournament.

Goessel contest

The Goessel Bluebirds flew out to an early four-point advantage, but the PBHS offense charged back to take the lead in the remainder of the contest.

Six Warriors put up points in the first quarter. Good had eight. Benson, Hittle, Simmonds, Bengtsson, and Carroll had two each. The tough PBHS defense held the Bluebirds to five keeping the score at the end of the first 18-5 in the Warriors' favor.

Warrior defense held the Bluebirds to six points in the second quarter. PBHS put in 11 and led by 18 at the half, 29-11. Carroll had four points. Benson, Good, and Hittle had two each. Simmonds added a free throw.

Warrior starters continued to dominate the Goessel team throughout the contest. Ball handling was a priority in the second half and point production slowed. Bengtsson and Good each had four in the second half. Carroll and Simmonds added three. Benson, Duane Unruh, and Jovan Nedeljkovic each had a basket.
