Warriors take homecoming win over Little River

Peabody-Burns Warriors were one-for-one this past week taking a 65-44 loss Tuesday at the hands of Moundridge, while achieving a 79-45 homecoming victory over Little River.
Next action included a scheduled game Tuesday at Remington before traveling Friday to Hartford.
In the Moundridge contest, the Wildcats took an early lead leaving the Warriors trailing by five, 16-11, at the end of the first quarter. Duane Unruh had four points in the quarter. Derek Benson had three. Isaac Good and Jason Carroll added a basket each.
Wildcat perimeter shooting heated up in the second period as they put up 11, including three treys. The Warriors put up eight, but the Wildcats maintained the edge at the half, 27-19. Christian Bengtsson put in four. Brandon Crabtree and Caroll each had two.
The Warriors had more than they could handle with the Wildcats in the second half. Although the Warriors scored 10 in the third, the Moundridge squad exploded, scoring 20. Nathan Hittle hit two treys for PBHS. Ryan Wiebe and Good each had two.
Wildcat hustle and rebounding held the Warriors in the fourth. Down by 20, the PBHS squad played foul-and-go for the last six minutes of the contest. Warrior offense did better in the fourth, adding 15, but still took the loss, 65-44. Unruh led the period with six. Hittle hit five. Wiebe and Derrick Simmonds each had two.

Little River contest
From the first basket, the homecoming matchup with Little River was all Peabody-Burns. Benson opened scoring for the Warriors with a lay-up early in the first. Bengtsson scored seven from underneath to lead the PBHS squad. Good and Benson had four. Hittle and Carroll each had a trey. Simmonds added a two. PBHS led by 11 at the end of the first, 23-12.
Warrior defense dominated the Redskin squad in the second, holding them to eight. Warrior offense opened up a 20-point lead at the half, 40-20. Bengtsson remained in control under the basket, scoring six. Carroll had five points. Crabtree, Good, and Benson each had two.
Warrior defense again held the Redskins, allowing only seven points. PBHS offense piled on the points in the third, adding 24. The Warrior lead was 64-27 at the end of the third. Bengtsson had 10. Hittle added four. Bryan Swenson, Unruh, Crabtree, Carroll, and Good each put in two.
The reserves saw time in the fourth and the Warriors took the homecoming victory, 79-45. Cody Weerts had four in the fourth. Swenson added three. Michael Hilliard, Aaron Burnett, Adam Benson, and Simmonds each contributed two.
