Warriors move up in district play

Peabody-Burns Warriors moved one step closer to post-season play Friday with a huge win over the Moundridge Wildcats. The Warriors, having a big offensive night, defeated the cats 34-14.
The PBHS team, now 7-1, plays its last district game at Canton-Galva on Halloween night.
"Tonight we kept it simple," stated coach Chris Young. "Thankfully we have the athletes to do their own work, what they need to do. It was a great win."
Nolan Hurst had 24 carries for 158 yards and three touchdowns. Kurt Phillips had nine carries for 145 yards and one touchdown. Mario Nava was 10 for 45 yards and Chris Hamm was nine for 38 and one touchdown.
Kurt Phillips had one interception. Justin Mayfield and Phillip Unruh each had a sack. Adam Jones and Brandon Crabtree recovered one fumble each.
Nick Conquest returned three kickoffs for 106 yards with one 64-yard return.
Fifty-two team tackles were recorded by the Warrior squad: Justin Mayfield 10, Nick Conquest and Philip Unruh 7 each, Adam Carroll 6, Adam Jones 5, Matt Kangas and Nolan Hurst 4 each, Mario Nava (3), Brandon Crabtree (2), and Michael Cullinane, Kurt Phillips, and Ryan Gaines 1 each.
In eight games, the Warriors have racked up 2,318 yards in 384 carries. The Warrior defense has accumulated 415 team tackles, 23 fumble recoveries, 28 sacks, and 9 interceptions.
