Warriors lose twice at Canton

Two matches Sept. 18 at Canton-Galva produced no victories for the Peabody-Burns High School volleyball team.

The Lady Warriors were defeated by Little River 25-18, 25-17, and Canton-Galva 25-18, 25-22.

PBHS was in action Tuesday at Goessel.

Clarissa Terronez scored two aces in the first three serves of game one of the Little River match to put the Warriors ahead 3-0.

Little River came back to tie the game at five. A kill from Julie Wedel took the Lady Warriors to within one at 18-17, but they did not score the rest of the game.

In the second game, Little River took an early lead with a big front-row attacking game, and PBHS could not get into the contest, losing by seven.

Becki Morris led the attack for the Lady Warriors with four kills.

Danielle Savage added three, while Wedel, Tabitha O'Neal, Jessica Gillet, and Bayleigh Clark each had one.

Savage also chipped in with two blocks, while Terronez had three aces and four digs.

The Lady Warriors played a more competitive match against the Eagles.

The team struggled in back-row play, but the front-row attack was better with Morris and Savage combining for 14 kills. Gillet and Wedel added three each.

Morris had 17 digs and Wedel recorded two blocks, while Clark had 12 assists.
