Warriors lose to Bluebirds

In the final competition of 2006, the PBHS Warriors were defeated at home by the Goessel Bluebirds, 73-45. The team will get a break for the holiday and resume play Jan. 5 at home against Moundridge.

The Bluebirds took the lead early in the contest and the Warriors were down by 10, 21-11, at the end of the first quarter. Derrick Simmonds had seven in the period and Trevor Hamm had four.

The Warriors could not stop the fast pace of the Bluebird squad and the deficit grew to 16 at the half. Bishop and Simmonds scored four in the quarter. Jake Middleton had a basket and Adam Benson added a free throw.

Warrior defense held the Bluebirds to 14 in the third. Warrior offense managed to score 15. The PBHS squad was down by 15 at the end of the period, 52-37. Duane Unruh and Hamm had four each. Jacob Simmonds added a trey. Benson and D. Simmonds each had a basket.

Goessel added 19 in the final period. D. Simmonds had 10 in the fourth to lead the PBHS squad. Unruh and Benson each added a basket. Middleton put in two free throws and Todd Woodruff added one.
