Warriors lose to Berean

The final game of the regular season ended in a loss for the Warriors. They fell to Berean, 74-60 and ended the season with a 6-14 record. Up next, the number five seed PBHS will play the number four seed Solomon Monday in the first round of sub-state.
The Berean Warriors took the early edge in the Tuesday contest. PBHS offense was a basket each from Duane Unruh and Adam Benson, a free throw from Todd Woodruff and four free throws from Derrick Simmonds. Berean led at the end of the first period, 15-9.
With the early deficit, PBHS offense had a tough time closing the gap. Despite better scoring in the second quarter, PBHS was down 13 at the half, 37-24. D. Simmonds had five in the second. Nathan Bishop and Unruh had three each. Jacob Simmonds and Aaron Burnett each put in a basket.
Berean turned up the offense in the third and the PBHS Warriors could not find a way to shut them down. The lead was 20 at the end of the third, 58-38. D. Simmonds had four. Woodruff and J. Simmonds each added a trey. Unruh and Andrew Loucks each contributed a basket.
Led by Burnett with eight points, PBHS took advantage of Berean substitutions and added 22 in the final period, but came up short in the battle. D. Simmonds had six. Brian Wingert put a in a trey. Benson and Woodruff each had two. J. Simmonds added a free throw.
