Peabody-Burns Warriors took to the road Friday for a league match-up with the Berean Academy Warriors. The Peabody-Burns squad lost 63-71 in an up-tempo contest.
The PBHS team looks to a full week of basketball next week, meeting Remington, Burrton, and Inman.
The first quarter for both Warrior teams was even, with good hustle and point production. The PBHS Warriors had scoring from seven players. Tommy Phillips opened for the Warriors with two from underneath. The first quarter ended with the PBHS squad down by one, 17-18.
The remainder of the first half was spent playing catch-up. The PBHS team could not control the outside assault from Berean and were down 28-36 at the buzzer.
Second half scoring opened with a jumper from the free-throw line by Grant Klingenberg. The Berean Warriors continued to score easily from the outside. Both teams were in the bonus in the fourth quarter, translating into a slow game with lots of foul shooting. The PBHS Warriors couldn't close the gap and were defeated 71-63.
Three Warriors finished in double figures for the contest.
