Warriors knocked off by undefeated Eagles

Peabody-Burns High School football team suffered its second loss of the season Friday at Canton-Galva.
The Eagles offense worked well in the first quarter, putting two quick scores on the board. The Warriors were down 13-0 heading into the second.
The Warrior offense put together a 60-yard drive in the second quarter that ended with a 15-yard touchdown pass from Todd Woodruff to Derrick Simmonds. The PAT was good, and the Warriors trailed just 13-7.
The Warrior defense forced an Eagle punt on the next series. The offense took the ball into Eagle territory, where William Pratt kicked a 41-yard field goal to cut the lead to three.
PBHS scored again in the third with a 50-yard drive that ended with a 16-yard Woodruff to Nathan Bishop touchdown pass. The Warriors now led 17-13.
Canton-Galva came back with two more scores to give them a 26-17 lead.
Pratt notched another field goal to cut the lead to 26-20.
Canton-Galva scored twice more off Warrior turnovers, and PBHS scored once more, making the final score 39-26.
Woodruff finished the game 12-29 with 167 yards and two touchdowns.
Micah Hilliard had six receptions for 61 yards, Bishop two for 29 yards and one touchdown, Simmonds two for 28 yards and one touchdown, Benson one for 33 yards, and Mike Gfeller one for 16 yards.
Woodruff led the ground attack as well, carrying the ball 11 times for 54 yards and a score. Trevor Hamm had six carries for 17 yards, and Bishop rushed for 12 yards.
Bishop led the defense with 11 tackles. Other tackles recorded were: Woodruff six, Benson six, Hilliard five, Hamm four, Pratt four, Nick Abramowich three, Ryan Johnson three, Simmonds two, Ben Eldridge one, and Eric Dutton one.
Hilliard and Benson had one interception each.
