Warriors get post-season recognition

Adam Jones, a junior, was named to the all-state honorable mention list in both the Wichita Eagle and the Topeka Capitol Journal. Jones had 38 pancakes and no sacks allowed as an offensive lineman for the Warriors.

Justin Mayfield, a senior, was named an all-state honorable mention selection in the Topeka Capitol Journal. Mayfield had 43 pancakes and no sacks allowed as an offensive lineman for PBHS.

Nick Conquest, also a senior, was named to the Topeka Capitol Journal all-state honorable mention list. Conquest had 52 tackles, seven interceptions, nine pass break-ups and four fumble recoveries as a free safety for the Warriors.

Nolan Hurst, senior, was named to the Topeka Capitol Journal all-state honorable mention list as well. Hurst had 204 carries for 1043 yards and 14 touchdowns as a running back on the Warrior team.

The sportswriters for the Hutchinson News selected three Warriors for its All-Class 11-Man football teams. The all-class teams are chosen from schools statewide.

Chris Hamm and Nolan Hurst, both running backs, and Philip Unruh for dual duty as offensive and defensive lineman, were named honorable mention selections in the All-Class 2-1A team.

The Hutchinson News also selected top picks in each of the area leagues. Chosen for the Heart of America league first team offense were linemen Justin Mayfield and Adam Jones, and running back Nolan Hurst.

Slots on the HOA league first team defense were filled by Warrior lineman Philip Unruh and defensive back Nick Conquest.

Offensive players making the HOA honorable mention team were linemen Brandon Crabtree and Philip Unruh, running back Chris Hamm, kicker Mario Nava, and Nick Conquest as wide receiver, kicker, and punter.

Defensive squad members who received honorable mention were linemen Justin Mayfield and Adam Jones, linebackers Matt Kangas and Nolan Hurst, and defensive back Chris Hamm.
