Warriors defeat Canton-Galva

Peabody-Burns High School boys' basketball team returned home Tuesday with a 63-40 win over Canton-Galva in a league makeup game.

The Warriors are now 9-3 for the season and were set to meet Moundridge Tuesday and Little River Friday during a homecoming match-up.

Derrick Simmonds opened the scoring for the Warriors with two free throws. The offense continued to roll, adding 12 in the quarter. Defensively, the Warriors held the Eagles scoreless, giving the Warriors a 14-0 edge at the end of one. Nathan Hittle paced the team with seven. Simmonds had three with Bryan Swenson and Duane Unruh each added a basket.

The Warriors put up 19 points in the second. PBHS lead 28-0 before the Eagles scored nine unanswered points with just over two minutes left in the half. The Warriors led big at the half, 33-12. Isaac Good had eight. Christian Bengtsson had four. Jason Carroll added three. Simmonds added a basket and Crabtree contributed two free throws.

Eagle offense came back in the third to put up 17. PBHS put up 18. The Warrior lead was 22 at the end of the third quarter, 51-29. Derek Benson lead the period with six points. Crabtree had five. Hittle added three and Bengtsson and Carroll each had two.

By the fourth, PBHS cruised to a victory. Jovan Nedeljkovic had six points. Swenson and Bengtsson each had two. Trevor Hamm and Ryan Wiebe added one each.
