Warrior players receive tournament honors

Staff writer

Three Warrior basketball players received post-tournament honors last week for play in the Burrton tournament.

Steven Morgan, a senior, was named to the all-tournament team. Morgan was one of 10 players at the tournament to receive the honor. An independent panel watched the tournament and kept offensive and defensive statistics on the players. The tournament team was put together from the panel's tabulated results.

Jared Lopez, also a senior, was named the tournament's most inspirational player. The same panel that chose the all-tournament team chose Lopez to receive the honor based on his sportsmanship and character on the court. Lopez received a traveling trophy to be kept at the school until next year's tournament.

Marion Nava, a freshman, won the freshman free-throw contest. Shooting free-throws each night of the tourney, Nava clinched the title on the final evening, shooting 23 of 28. Nava also received a traveling trophy.

Morgan is the son of Larry and Dee Morgan, Lopez is the son of Jenny Lopez and Rick Lopez, and Nava is the son of Rose Wagner.
