The Peabody-Burns golf squad hosted the Desert Classic April 9, bringing in golfers from Sedgwick, Chase County, Remington, Riley County, and Central Christian high schools.
The Peabody six-man golf team finished first in the team standings. The team, made up of Chad Carr, Nolan Hurst, Chad Litton, Bryan Swenson, Tyler Litton, and Brandon Crabtree shot a score of 253.
The PBHS squad also had six players medal in the top 10: Carr, first; Litton, second; Hurst, third; Swenson, eighth; Crabtree, ninth; and Jessie Barnhardt, 10th.
Coach Clark was extremely pleased with the results of the classic. "Six players placing in the top 10 was outstanding," said Clark. Clark also was happy with the overall meet itself.
"Everyone did a great job pitching in to make the tournament a success, from club members to the cooks and especially the greenskeepers: Stephanie Vetter, Ryan Johnson, Grant Klingenberg, Jarred Weems, Ben Jantzen, Leah Eldridge, Heidi Knust, Cody Weerts, and Rob McVey."
