Warkentines to observe 60th anniversary years ago
Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Warkentine will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary from 2 to 4 p.m. April 15 at Peabody United Methodist Church.
Marvin Warkentine and Thelma Manka were married April 19, 1947, at Peabody United Methodist Church.
They lived in Newton for the first six years of marriage, and spent the next 40 years on a farm near Burns. They now reside in a small retirement home they built east of Peabody.
Nine winters were enjoyed in the Rio Grande valley of South Texas. They have traveled from Mexico to Alaska and California to New York. Being longtime members of the Carriage Travel Club, they were awarded the National Exceptional Service award in 2006.
The couple's five children, Blaine and Denis Warkentine, Carol Powell, Paula Thiessen, and Annette Weems will host the open house. They also have 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
The couple requests no gifts, only your presence.
