Wanted: Old boots

The Peabody Prairie Christmas committee has been continuing to plan for the 2007 Bells, Boots and Buggies Christmas parade and community event to be held Dec. 8.

Specific details and the schedule will be announced as the event gets closer. However, you can count on interesting contests, activities, kids' games, crafts, great food, and of course, Santa.

In the meantime, though, we're in need of cowboy boots — adult and child sizes. Old and obviously used — but clean — are definitely preferred. You won't get them back, but you can donate them in the certain knowledge that they'll be long considered a valuable addition to someone's holiday decor. The boots will take the place of the lariats used in 2006 for the silent auction.

It's not too late to volunteer. The Peabody Prairie Christmas committee welcomes anyone who would like to help with Peabody's second annual holiday celebration. No contribution of time or talent is ever considered too small or insignificant. Contact Kristen Hooper at the Main Street office, 620-983-2174, if you'd like to join us, would like to donate boots, or are interested in decorating a boot to be entered into the silent auction.
