Wanted: Boot decorators

By KRISTEN HOOPER

Director, Peabody Main Street Association

The Peabody Prairie Christmas committee is at it again this year. The committee has been working all year to plan a wonderful event for Dec. 8.

In 2006, a silent wreath auction was held to raise money for downtown banners. Enough money was raised and the community voted for the favorite choice of three.

After Thanksigivng the community can expect to see the hunter green banners with white snowflakes accented with a rich gold ribbon hanging on the downtown light poles, welcoming all who come to Peabody.

The committee doesn't want to stop with winter banners but has set another goal for fall banners. With the success of last year's auction the committee has decided to host another silent auction using old cowboy boots embracing the "Bells, Boots and Buggies" theme.

The Peabody Prairie Christmas committee is calling for all creative minds to decorate a boot of your choice to be used in the 2007 Bells, Boots and Buggies Silent Boot Auction. Boots are available at the Main Street office. The committee is asking that the boots be picked up and returned ready to be auctioned by 5 p.m. Nov. 30.

If you are interested in decorating a boot to be entered in the silent auction please contact me at the Main Street office, 983-2174, or stop by to choose your old boot.
